Job Description
Provides leadership and oversees all aspects of the Clay Target Team, to include coaching the team; planning, organizing, and supervising team practices; actively identifying, evaluating, and recruiting top quality student-athletes. Candidate will work within office/department, division and college policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
60%

Responsible for recruiting highly competitive student athletes that will thrive under the UT Southern culture that encompasses "WINNING" in the classroom, venue and in the community. Ensure the effective teaching and instruction of all specific technical skill areas to student-athletes. Coach student-athletes in their growth and development in the sport with techniques and fundamentals of specific shooting disciplines. Develop team and individual strategies to have the greatest chance of success within the sport, through on range teaching and video instruction. Design instructional programs for the team and individual student athletes on how to implement a successful competition as determined for each discipline in the sport of shooting. Monitors and actively encourages student athletes to succeed academically and represent the university with leadership and integrity, both on and off the range. Schedules all team contests and coordinates special events. Supervises and coordinates the work of assistant coach and student assistants (if applicable). Game day management of other sports are possible or any other duties as assigned, including teaching an activity class.

Responsible for all travel arrangements as well as all reconciliation of budget reports and credit card usage reconciliation after travel and or purchasing of gear and/or equipment. Work within the ACUI Compliance mandates to make sure program and student-athletes are complying with all rules and regulations regarding compliance. Promote the program to the public including media, donors the University community and the general public to increase visibility and revenues for the program. Responsible for fundraising for the program when needed.

Qualifications
Considerable knowledge of all clay target sport shooting disciplines. Working knowledge of ACUI rules and regulations. Ability in high level recruiting techniques, knowledge of high school coaches and athletes, and student-athlete concerns. Effective interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written). Strong computer skills in a Windows-based environment (Microsoft: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), including at least intermediate level word processing and spreadsheet development. Ability to work with diverse populations, as part of a team, and collaborate with others. Demonstrated ability to work independently, to maintain confidentiality, and to supervise others.

Knowledge of a public university setting or competitive shooting program preferred.
