Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
This position serves as the assistant to the Sports Information Coordinator with a focus on athletic department social media communications. This role will be responsible for helping the athletic department manage the Athletics website, Athletic Social Media pages, and streamlining communication between College of DuPage and other media outlets.

  • Responsible for assisting the Sports Information Coordinator with the daily maintenance of the College of DuPage Athletics website.
  • Write timely feature game stories as assigned, articles that spotlight team members, student athlete bios, and game previews.
  • Provide timely and compelling sports information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work closely with all coaches to gather scores, specific game-related information etc.
  • Assist with design and production of game programs and media guides.
  • Assists with managing daily communication responsibilities for the athletic department.
  • Assists with College of DuPage athletic related social media platforms and outlets.
  • Assist with compiling athletic statistical information and assemble athletic historical records.
  • Work with the student newspaper (The Courier) to maximize the exposure of teams.
  • Assists with coordination of athletic photography during in game competition.
  • Provide backup for the daily maintenance of the College of DuPage Athletics website in conjunction with the College's webhosting service, SIDEARM.
  • Work with a caseload of athletic teams to keep their biographical, statistical, and contest information and updated across all electronic platforms.
  • Manage the COD Athletic department social media accounts (X, Instagram, Facebook etc)
  • Assists the athletic administration with additional duties, as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degree required.
      • Concentrations in digital media, sports marketing, sports management, journalism, or other related field preferred.
    • Experience
      • At least 1 year working in an athletic department.
      • Some experience writing and editing sports information and news articles.
      • Prior experience working in a Sports Information Director's office at another college preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Standard office equipment
  • Potential travel required with athletic teams
  • Occasionally working in inclement weather conditions
  • Much of the work will be required during athletic contests which happen in the afternoon and evenings as well as on weekends
  • Public Address announcing may be required during game
  • Working with computers, scoreboards, message centers, and PA equipment


  • Hybrid Remote Eligible:

    Part-Time Work Schedule: Up to 29 hours weekly

    Hiring Range:
    Classified 9 Hourly/18.25 - 21.70
