Position Summary:
Academic Coaching is housed within Tutoring and College Success (TCS), one of three Academic Support Programs (ASP) in the Vandal Success department. Academic Coaches provide individualized academic support to students through one-on-one consultations, a College Success Strategies course, and presentations on college success strategies to the University of Idaho community. Academic Coaches also provide secondary advising support for unique populations to increase student success. Academic Coaches serve the entire student population and work closely with underrepresented populations, students that present academic risk factors, students in historically difficult fields, and students in specific living groups. Academic Coaches may also be trained to assist with curricular advising as needed to assist the University Advising Services (UAS) team. Academic Coaches play an integral role in supporting student success and retention at the University of Idaho.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with academic coaching, advising, or other college level academic support
  • Experience presenting to individuals, small, and/or large groups





Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, psychology, social work, educational leadership or related field
  • Experience teaching at the college level, preferably with students who present academic risk factors
  • Experience developing, promoting and presenting programs on college success strategies
  • Knowledge of student development theory and/or advising or academic support best practices
  • Knowledge of University of Idaho academic rules, regulations and support programs
  • Ability to motivate, encourage, and support students to recognize their potential and meet challenges
